The authority of Jesus has been delegated to you. The question is, what are you doing with it?

Are you sitting there pushing it away because you do not know who you are? Are you waiting for God to do something He has already authorized you to do? Or are you accepting your identity in Christ and walking in the authority Jesus has given you?

Jesus made an extraordinary statement:

“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”

John 14:12 NIV

Jesus did not say this only to pastors, apostles, missionaries, or healing evangelists. He said, “Whoever believes in me.”

If you believe in Jesus, that includes you.

You Have Been Given Authority

Many believers have been given authority but have no clue what they possess. Religion has taught them to remain uncertain about who they are, what they have received, and what God expects them to do.

They have been taught to beg God for things He has already provided. They continually ask Him to come down and do something while He is telling them to stand up, believe His Word, and use the authority they have already received.

This is why your identity in Christ matters.

You cannot consistently walk in kingdom authority while seeing yourself as powerless, unworthy, rejected, or spiritually inferior. Until you understand who you are in Christ, you will remain a beggar before situations and circumstances that Jesus has already given you authority to confront.

Jesus said:

“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy.”

Luke 10:19 NKJV

Authority must be received, understood, and exercised. Having authority and using authority are not the same thing.

You can possess the keys to a house and still remain outside. The problem is not that the keys were never given to you. The problem is that you have not used them.

Religion Keeps You Begging

Religion will keep you waiting for God to make another decision about your life.

But God has already revealed His nature, His will, and His provision through Jesus Christ. He is not constantly changing His mind about you.

The Bible describes Him as:

“The Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

James 1:17 KJV

God is not healing one day and destroying the next. He is not accepting you today and rejecting you tomorrow. He is not giving you authority and then taking it away whenever your emotions change.

His nature is consistent.

The Father has already blessed you with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ. He has already given you everything you need for life and godliness. You have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

This does not mean that you are God. It means you have been united with Christ, made righteous in Him, seated with Him, and authorized to represent His kingdom.

That is very different from living as a spiritual beggar.

You Are Seated With Christ

God did not merely rescue you from sin and leave you standing at the bottom of the spiritual ladder. Scripture says He raised you up and seated you with Christ in heavenly places.

“And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

Ephesians 2:6 KJV

That is your spiritual position.

You may be walking through difficulties in the natural world, but your position in Christ has not changed. You have been seated with Him above the forces of darkness.

You have also been made a joint heir with Christ.

“And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.”

Romans 8:17 KJV

Being a joint heir does not mean that you become equal with Jesus in His deity. Jesus is Lord. It means that through your union with Him, you share in the inheritance, authority, and victory He purchased for you.

You do not earn that position through religious performance. You receive it through faith in Christ.

Authority Requires Identity

You cannot walk confidently in authority while remaining uncertain about your identity.

If you believe you are spiritually powerless, you will respond to problems as a powerless person. If you believe sickness, darkness, fear, and demonic oppression have greater authority than you do, you will continually retreat from them.

But when you understand who you are in Christ, your posture changes.

You stop begging circumstances for permission to move forward. You stop allowing fear to dictate your decisions. You stop speaking as though the enemy has the final word.

You begin agreeing with God.

That is why renewing your mind is so important. You cannot walk in new authority with an old religious mindset. You must allow the Word of God to replace every lie, tradition, and assumption that contradicts what Jesus has said about you.

You have been given the mind of Christ. It is time to use it.

What Did Jesus Tell Believers to Do?

Jesus was very clear about the work of His kingdom.

He told His disciples to proclaim the kingdom, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, and cast out demons. He sent the twelve, and He also sent the seventy-two.

They returned rejoicing because demons submitted to them in His name.

Jesus later declared that believers would lay hands on the sick and see them recover. He told His followers to make disciples of all nations and teach others to obey everything He commanded.

These instructions reveal what believers are supposed to be doing.

  • Preach the Gospel
  • Heal the sick
  • Cast out demons
  • Make disciples
  • Reconcile people to God
  • Demonstrate the reality of His kingdom
  • Continue the works of Jesus

We are not called to perform for attention or build a religious image. We are called to represent Jesus.

There is a tremendous difference between demonstrating kingdom authority and putting on a religious show.

One produces freedom, healing, repentance, and transformed lives. The other may produce applause, but it carries no lasting fruit.

Stop Waiting for Another Assignment

You already have a calling.

God has placed you on this earth for a purpose. You are His ambassador. You have been given the ministry and message of reconciliation.

The question is not whether you have something to do. The question is whether you are willing to believe what God says and begin doing it.

Too many believers are waiting for a title, platform, invitation, or special feeling before they obey Jesus.

But you do not need a pulpit to pray for someone who is sick. You do not need a title to share the Gospel. You do not need a large audience to make a disciple. You do not need permission from religion to obey Jesus.

You need faith.

Faith requires you to let go of old religious mindsets and accept the mind of Christ. It requires you to believe that God meant what He said, even when your experience has not yet caught up with His Word.

Opposition Does Not Mean You Missed God

When you begin walking in truth, not everyone will celebrate you.

Some people will come against you, and others will walk with you. That is part of representing the kingdom of God.

Jesus said that if the world persecuted Him, His followers should expect persecution as well. Opposition is not always evidence that you have missed God. Sometimes it is evidence that your obedience is confronting darkness, complacency, and religious tradition.

This does not mean we should seek conflict or use persecution as an excuse for poor character. We are called to walk in love, wisdom, humility, and truth.

But we must never allow the fear of people to keep us from obeying Jesus.

If your primary goal is applause, you may receive applause. But applause is not the same as fruit.

Jesus was celebrated by crowds, resisted by religious leaders, betrayed by a disciple, and ultimately crucified. He did not measure obedience by popularity. He remained faithful to the Father.

We must do the same.

What Are You Doing With His Authority?

You have a choice.

You can continue living beneath your spiritual position because religion has convinced you that you are powerless. You can keep begging God to do what He has already authorized you to do.

Or you can believe who you are in Christ.

You can renew your mind, receive your identity, and begin walking in the authority Jesus has given you. You can pray for the sick, confront darkness, proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, and bring the message of reconciliation to the world.

The works of Jesus did not disappear when the first apostles died. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

He has gone to the Father.

He has given believers His name.

He has sent the Holy Spirit.

He has delegated authority.

Now the question is yours to answer:

What are you doing with it?

Take the Next Step

Go back to the Word and discover what God says about you. Stop building your identity around your failures, feelings, experiences, or religious traditions.

See yourself as God sees you.

You are His child. You have been made righteous in Christ. You are seated with Christ in heavenly places. You are a joint heir with Him, an ambassador of His kingdom, and a carrier of His message of reconciliation.

Believe your true identity, renew your mind, and begin walking in the authority Jesus has already given you.
